Alice
Rubenstein, Ed.D.,
completed her doctorate at the University of Rochester and has been a
practicing psychologist in Rochester, New York, for more than
twenty-five years. She is founding partner of Monroe Psychotherapy and
Consultation Center. Dr. Rubenstein served as president of the American
Psychological Association Division of Psychotherapy, and was the 1996
recipient of its Distinguished Psychologist Award. She has been elected
a Distinguished Practitioner to the National Academies of Practice. Dr.
Rubenstein’s book The Inside Story on Teen Girls, coauthored with
Dr. Karen Zager, is based on more than two years of research and offers
expert answers to the questions that are most important to today’s
adolescent girls and their parents. She has served on the American
Psychological Association Presidential Task Forces on Women and
Depression and on Adolescent Girls: Strengths and Stresses. Dr.
Rubenstein is married to an academic psychologist and has two daughters
and two stepdaughters. Her mother is one of her very best friends and
her most important role model.
